Makita UK has donated approximately £15,000 worth of tools to the WorldSkills landscape contest including orbit sanders, jigsaws, disc cutters, mitre saws, laser levels and accessories.
Marketing manager Kevin Brannigan said: "As ever I’m sure we’ll be very impressed with the skills and standards of this years’ competitors. They will be working against the clock and under pressure and we hope our tools will contribute in helping to achieve accuracy and speed."
Greenwood Plants is supplying varieties such as Deschampsia, Potentilla, Achlilea, Echinacea, Penstemon and Pancium for the planting scheme and Marshalls will supply paving and Jewson wood for the venetian fencing and wooden bridge in the design.
Judges for the landscape gardening competition are Association of Professional Landscapers chairman, Mark Gregory who has completed more than 120 show gardens, garden designer and four times RHS gold medal winner Adam Frost, Jody Lidgard, who has run his own landscaping firm for over 18 years and 2011 WorldSkillsUK medal winner Simon Abbott.
The APL is organising partner for WorldSkillsUK.
Gregory thanked the sponsors and added: "The WorldSkills competitions showcase the high levels of performance that can be achieved by individuals and organisations through quality training, inspiring young people and adults to be ambitious in their pursuit of skills to the highest level.
