Sparsholt College is holding the first of this year’s Open Days on Saturday (4 October).
The event runs from 10am to 3pm. Prospective students of horticulture will be able to tour the five hectares dedicated to horticulture practice, landscaped gardens, lawns and decorative beds, production polytunnels, garden design studio, small fruit area, turf management, tropical greenhouses and drawing studio.
Sparsholt, near Winchester, Hampshire, is the college at the centre of the YoungHort movement - four YoungHort ambassadors are current or former students.
Founder Jack Shilley, currently on an internship at National Tropical Botanical Garden in Hawaii has just completed a Level 3 extended diploma in horticulture there.
"I would wholeheartedly recommend it," he said. "It's got a great campus, great course and great college."
Ambassador and current Level 3 extended diploma student Jack Bushnell said he would recommend it because of its extensive horticulture department.
"They have brilliant lecturers, they know their stuff," he said.
The college also sends a team to RHS Chelsea Flower Show each year. Students on the extended diploma class work on the entry.
This year the college team won a gold medal and best in category and a silver gilt last year. In 2012 the college also came home with a gold and best in category.
The college is also home to the 'Potting Shed' used in BBC Radio4’s Gardeners’ Question Time.
Lecturers and current students will be at the open day to talk about Sparsholt life.
