The owner of the site in Lower Withington, near Macclesfield in Cheshire, announced his intention to sell as the Four Oaks Trade Show opened this morning, citing his age and a desire for show director Pat Coutts to benefit from her 20% stake in the trade show business.
He said she would continue on as event director after a change in ownership and the show would go on, on 5 and 6 September 2017 with exhibitors benefiting from the same rates as this year.
"Exhibitors are assured of continuity. The 2017 website will be live by Thursday morning and priority re-bookings can be made online or by a fax back form," he said.
"Thank you for your continued support. We hope you have a successful show and look forward to seeing you at Four Oaks 2017."
The site is on the market for £2.9m with TLG commercial. Alongside the production nursery which includes 17,000sqm under glass and outdoor areas, the site has a retail emporium, cash and carry outlet, production nursery, reception offices and bungalow with agricultural tie.
TLG commercial director Tony Rowland said: "They are anxious to achieve the seamless sale where there is continuity of trading activity in particular for the Four Oaks Trade Show which will take place on September 5 and 6 2017."
Four Oaks Trade Show is now in its 46th year, and comprises massive displays of plant material alongside associated supplies and services from production to point-of-sale. Over 40% of participating companies this year are from overseas.
Visitors include commercial growers, grower retailers, garden centres, multiple retailers, farm shops, landscapers and architects, garden designers, local authorities and florists.
