The Provender Garden at Capel Manor College designed by Esra Parr has been officially opened.
Parr, a student at London's Capel Manor won a design competition to create the garden held among second year garden design students.
She joined Provender Nurseries’ nursery director Richard McKenna, college staff, students and guests for a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday. College principal Steve Dowbiggin also gave guests a tour of the site.
He said: "We applaud the working partnership and the garden that has been created from an educational establishment such as Capel Manor working together with the industry, Provender Nurseries."
Parr and McKenna thanked all who had been involved in the working partnership and the opportunity to make the Provender Garden a reality.
The London Garden Society also surprised the group by awarding a Certificate of Excellence to the garden.
Capel Manor has a long history of close associations with industry. The Provender Nurseries garden is part of the National Gardening Centre, a collection of 34 outdoor show gardens designed to be like a mini RHS Chelsea Flower Show available to the public all year round.
The garden design competition will run for another two years. In future the winning designers will receive a cash prize instead of replanting the existing garden.
Provender Nurseries is hosting the next APL Networking Seminar, entitled Succesful Sales and Marketing for Landscapers - are you sealing the deal?
