The Grounds Maintenance Technical Skills Programme will teach horticultural skills to staff in health and safety, environmental awareness and management, plant knowledge, personal development and work planning and machinery maintenance.
Candidates are assessed by ISS Lantra-registered technical trainers through practical observation and will graduate the programme with an externally accredited award
Industry partner manager at Lantra David Winn said ISS has a proactive training policy. "ISS is a leading organisation in training its staff and is to be applauded for its achievement."
The company also runs grounds-maintenance and greenkeeping basic skills programmes that offer an apprenticeship model that allows people to progress within the firm. It also runs management diploma, advanced leadership and top talent courses.
Of employees having completed the management diploma course, 72 per cent are still retained within the business, 30 per cent have been promoted and eight per cent have become directors.
