Four Oaks trade show will host another HortWeek industry peat debate this September 4 at 2pm.
The “Next stage in the peat-free journey” debate is sponsored by Southern Trident.
A follow-up to last year’s Four Oaks peat debate, the discussion will be chaired by HortWeek editor Matthew Appleby. The panel will include Simon Blackhurst (Growing Media Association), Steve Carter (Fleurie Nurseries), Alistair Griffiths (RHS) and Steve Harper (Southern Trident).
RHS science director Professor Alistair Griffiths said: "It is great to see the industry progressing well with its transition to peat-free. The RHS Research Fellowship will continue to support this transition for all updated information from this research to help growers see the RHS Peat-free portal for industry https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/
Southern Trident CEO Steve Harper added: “It’s crucial for Southern Trident to showcase its leadership in sustainable growing media and to support its commitment to promoting environmentally responsible practices within the industry.”
HortWeek has led on the peat policy debate for many years including a HortWeekTV discussion in 2023 and Four Oaks debate the same year, which revealed the size of the peat-free grower sector in the UK.
