The district sits within the South Downs National Park, The Living Coast UNESCO biosphere and there are plans for the Eastbourne Downland and Seaford to be included in the Seven Sisters National Nature Reserve.
The current Grounds Maintenance Services Contract expires on 31st March 2026. The councils will therefore be tendering for these contracts, with the aim of publishing the opportunity in May 2025.
This opportunity is for experienced contractors to work with both councils in delivering high-quality grounds maintenance services, helping to enhance and maintain outdoor spaces to excellent standards on a long-term basis.

The procurement process will follow the new Competitive Flexible Procedure which has been introduced in the Procurement Act 2023, which came into place on 24 February 2025.
