Top 200 garden centres 2024 reveals new entries and subdued growth

The annual HortWeek Top 200 Garden Centres report has been the sector’s leading analysis of garden retail performance for than a decade.

This year, we map the leading centres, compare group two-year performance, contrast leading groups by size and turnover and track how they have grown as the market consolidates. We also cover online sellers, regional leaders and the most active businesses.

Dobbies still has the most centres, though Blue Diamond has overtaken its £278m turnover, with £310m. There are more than 20 new entries in this year’s Top 200, with the threshold rising to £3.5m. Almost all of the UK’s counties feature. The combined total is a record, with higher average and median figures.
Centres are ranked without VAT and concessions, but including restaurants, and all the figures reported are for the latest available financial period.

The top 10 is collectively up £2.8m for the last period, 1.5% up on combined sales overall of around £190m.
